Kaufman County Criminal Attorney
serving communities like Forney, Terrell, and Kaufman
As a former First Assistant District Attorney of Kaufman County, I am a uniquely qualified criminal defense attorney for your Kaufman County criminal case. I was the second in command at the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office from 2007 to May 2010, so I am intimately familiar with the criminal justice system of Kaufman County, the judges, prosecutors (many of whom I trained as new lawyers), as well as the law enforcement agencies who work cases in the county. I also lived in Forney for 5 years. I know this county.
Many a drug trafficker from out-of-county and even out-of-state find themself stuck in the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center with an incredibly high bond. The main arteries of the county US 175, Interstate 20, and US 80 are all heavily patrolled, particularly by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers who are looking for dope. It can be a lonely place, especially for an outsider. I can help level the playing field.
Kaufman County's population has grown significantly over the last decade. Parts closest to Dallas like Forney have exploded, bringing the county to nearly 100,000 people, but much is still unincorporated and left under the able protection of Kaufman County Sheriff, David Byrnes, the retired Texas Ranger and Captain of "Company B" of the legendary Texas law enforcement agency. The other largest agencies are Terrell Police Service, under the strong leadership of Jody Lay, a former Garland Police Captain, the Forney Police Department, under 30 year vet Rick Barnes, and the Kaufman Police Department, under Mike Holder, one of the executors of the successful Dallas Police "impact offender" program. Kaufman County has many excellent police officers, and I know who they are. I also know where the weaknesses are in local agencies right down to the weaknesses of individual investigators. This is a game changer when your long-term freedom is at stake not to mention that I can get access to investigators early in a case that other lawyers could not get. This can clear charges earlier and more often.
Kaufman juries are very pro-law enforcement. They are well-known to bring down huge punishment verdicts on criminals on trial in the Kaufman County Courthouse. This is a fact not to be taken lightly. A quantity of drugs that would bring probation in Dallas can result in a prison sentence in Kaufman. You need straight talk from your lawyer to avoid the worst case scenario.
In addition to having history and great familiarity with Kaufman County, I am also 10 year veteran trial lawyer with over 150 jury trial who is Board Certified in Criminal Law and a former Felony Chief Prosecutor in Dallas County. My combination of skill, experience, knowledge, and Kaufman County background gives my client a great advantage in any Kaufman County case.
My office in Rockwall is also very easy to access from Kaufman County, especially from Forney, Texas and Terrell, Texas.
